That of the skewers of mozzarella in carrozza is a recipe based on a fragrant breading that wraps a soft cheese heart. A revisited version of the classic mozzarella in carrozza, in a crunchy and stringy finger food version. A delicious and satisfying dish suitable for an aperitif or as an appetizer, easy and to try!

Ingredients

  • 120 g of white bread or sandwich bread

  • 400 g of hard mozzarella

  • 2 eggs

  • 50 g of flour

  • 80 g of breadcrumbs

  • salt

  • pepper

  • peanut oil for frying

These skewers are an original variation of the classic mozzarella in carrozza.

To make them, it takes only 10 minutes of preparation and as many for cooking; in fact, it is enough to alternate regular squares of bread and cheese, skewer them on wooden skewers and proceed with frying after passing them in the flour, then in the egg and finally in the breadcrumbs.

The result will be a delicious dish, mouth watering: a crunchy breading will cover a soft heart of stringy mozzarella, for an inexpensive and very simple dish to make, perfect as an aperitif or appetizer.

Preparation

Phase 1

Cut the mozzarella into slices of the same thickness as the bread and then into squares of about 2 centimeters on each side. Cut the bread into squares of the same size.

Put 4 slices of mozzarella on the skewers alternating with 5 slices of bread, starting and ending with the bread.

Phase 2

Now proceed with the breading, flour each skewer, then pass it in the beaten egg that you have salted and peppered. Drip the excess eggs, then pass the skewer in the breadcrumbs, carefully covering all surfaces. Proceed like this with all the skewers.

Phase 3

In a large pan heat the oil and check that it is hot before dipping the skewers, one or two at a time, and brown them on all sides. Once well cooked, let them rest on absorbent paper for a few minutes then serve them still hot accompanied with a few slices of lemon.
